Right click the GW Shortcut Click the "Shortcut" tab and see if at the end if the line it's written -repaire

If it is, take it off, if it isn't place it on.

only one thing i can suggest and i strongly suggest it. completely uninstall guild wars from your add/remove programs menu then download the downloadable installer and run it.

allow the game to download everything from the log-in screen (do it while you sleep or work) then when it's all over and the lightning icon is gone from the upper right hand corner of your screen, close the game and add the -image switch to your target in your guild wars shortcut properties. let the game decompress everything.

once the guild wars box disappears, remove the -image switch and run the game. hopefully this clean install will not have any traces of corrupt data in it to trigger the repair data archive switch.

Or instead of going into the log-in screen, just do the -image first and it will do everything it would at the log-in screen, but faster. -image downloads and decompresses all the files that are avalible. I just recently unistalled my GW and reinstalled, and I did the -image thing. I let it run overnight and in the morning, it was perfectly fine.

You don't even have to actually reinstall, just goto your install folder and rename the gw.dat file to something else, then run with the -image option.

If you have not already done this, try running memtest on your entire memory range with all tests. I recently had a similar problem and found that, in my case, one of my 2 Corsair 512MB had a bad section. I replaced the bad DIMM and presto, no more dat archive repair at every game start.

I always use MemTest86 available through their site or you can run any of the many memtest utilities. Just don't rely on your on board bios startup test because it is a simple parity check which does not actually write/read from every memory location with multiple data patterns.
